DESIGN & OPERATION

The power supply unit is housed on a mobile cabinet truck the interior of which is accessible beneath two-leaf doors located on both truck ends. The truck cabinet enclosure is divided into two sections:

  • LV: low voltage equipment and connections,
  • HV: high voltage equipment and connections.

The cabinet is mounted on a three-wheeled truck with solid tyres. The truck front wheel is steerable. The truck features a parking brake and a handle bar for moving by hand. The truck cabinet back panel has a cable suspender-ring installed. The power supply unit is based on a 3 x 400 V / 2 x 3 x 1200 V three-phase three-winding transformer with Dd0y5 connections. The primary winding has 5 taps: -5%, 400 V, +5%, +10%. +15% that enable output voltage adjustment. The two secondary windings of the transformer are coupled with a system of two serially-connected 6-pulse rectifiers. The system provides 12-pulse rectification of current, which limits the harmonic content in the current input from the grid to the power supply unit. The compact switch provides protection from touching live parts directly and forms a manually-controlled power circuit cut-out. The touchscreen control panel is an interface which displays indications safety-critical problems, allows turning the power supply voltage outputs on and off, and reads the measured values of operating output current and voltage. The control panel also features a real time clock display for service diagnostic purposes and interaction with the maintenance schedule/ The RFIC card reader restricts access to the power supply unit to authorised personnel only.
