ENIKA was founded in early 1992 as a company specializing in the design and installation of industrial automation systems. In 1993, it began delivering its first products to the railway market, followed a year later by deliveries of 1.5 kW DC/DC converters designed to power auxiliary circuits in trams.
From initially small devices, the company gradually moved towards more technologically advanced and efficient solutions. In addition to further developing converters, the company also began work on drive systems. Soon after, the first Polish asynchronous drive was presented for trams (2005), and later for trolleybuses.
In the following years, the company systematically expanded its product portfolio. Growing production required the construction of a new plant, which was expanded several times until 2020. In 2015, the company presented its first electrical system for an electric bus, and in 2019, a solution for hydrogen buses. Another significant step was the commencement of production of charging stations for electric buses in 2015 and the delivery of the company's first in-house air conditioning unit for the passenger compartment of trams in 2016.
In addition to the Polish market, the company has also successfully entered foreign markets. ENIKA devices can be found in Germany, Austria, France, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Ukraine, as well as Tajikistan and the Philippines.
The company's products have been repeatedly awarded for their innovation and high technical level in competitions organized during the TRAKO trade fair.
ENIKA is a founding member of the Polish Chamber of Railways and since 1999 also a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Public Transport.
Since 2024, ENIKA has been part of the international MEDHA Group.
