Drive system for Solbus gas-electric buses

We have undertaken an unusual task, consisting in the modernization of buses with a hybrid drive: gas-electric by Solbus. Hybrids from the beginning of operation were characterized by excessive faults, which even resulted in fires.
Enika specialists have developed and implemented:

• a new method of controlling the gas engine
• a different configuration of the electrical system

The modernization of the control system in the hybrid bus consisted in retrofitting the system with a CNG engine supervision module based on current converters. Thanks to these changes, driving dynamics has been increased, noise reduction has been achieved, as well as gas consumption has been reduced and passenger safety has been growed.
